Jim has generously agreed to a return engagement to lead a poetry workshop for us soon. We really appreciated meeting with him, and notes from his talk will be included in a separate post. Twenty four people attended on January 17th to hear local author Marcia Coffey Turnquist tell us about writing, publishing, marketing, and everything in-between. Marcia’s first novel, the God of Sno Cone Blue is available at Barnes and Noble (store and online) or http://www.amazon.com/God-Sno-Cone-Blue/dp/0991637437/ on Amazon. Continue reading Minutes 201601
We’re a pretty eclectic group of writers, and some of us have already self-published, with varying amounts of success – including self-publishing our journal. D-i-y sounds such an attractive option once you realize how little you’ll earn (or sell) with a small publisher, and how small your chance of landing a big publisher is. But how do you do it? More importantly, how do you self-publish effectively?
Nancy Woods spoke to our group once and offers many interesting classes. Coming soon is one on being your own publisher. Could we be our own publisher? Would we want to be? Could you be yours?
If you want to learn some serious stuff about how and why to self-publish, this might be the place to go. See http://nancy-woods.com/classes/ for details – it’s at the top of the page, costs $50, and takes place on Saturday Jan 30th.
Thank you Jean for letting us know about this.
The print price of our journal is $3.75
Postage is expensive. If we get enough orders at our meeting, we can share the postage between us and buy them at $4.50 including postage. But why are they $9.95 on Amazon? Continue reading Journal News 2015 – Step 13 – Price
Createspace is fun, free (if you want it to be), and extremely cool. Try it! Continue reading Journal News 2015 – Step 12 – Createspace
