Writers’ Mill Minutes May 20th 2018

Twenty members attended May’s Writers’ Mill meeting and enjoyed an amusing, intriguing and very informative talk from John Hoover, the best-selling author of How to Work for an Idiot and other fascinating titles. John described a little of his past, working for Disney, managing audiobooks for McGraw Hill, helping clients at Boeing, Delta, Hilton and many more… then went on to describe how he entered the world of writing and coaching instead of publishing. Around 20 members attended Sarah Hall’s Fathers’ Day presentation of the DIY book launch and learned not only how to create a good book “product,” but also how to reach an audience, prepare that audience to receive and read the book, and how to use technology! Sarah Hall agents and publishing discussion

  • Sarah passed out copies of a handout with a timeline of her journey (CLICK THE LINK TO DOWNLOAD YOUR COPY) toward signing a contract with Carina Press. She’d attached a post-it note to each for a contest at the end. The person who guessed how many drafts it took her to reach her final manuscript would get a prize. (She gave the hint that it was between 5-15.)
